Certainly We sent Noah to his people, and he said, ‘O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other god besides Him. Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’
But the elite of the faithless from among his people said, ‘This is just a human being like you, who seeks to dominate you. Had Allah wished, He would have sent down angels. We never heard of such a thing among our forefathers.
He is just a man possessed by madness. So bear with him for a while.’
He said, ‘My Lord! Help me, for they impugn me.’
So We revealed to him: ‘Build the ark before Our eyes and by Our revelation. When Our edict comes and the oven gushes [a stream of water], bring into it a pair of every kind [of animal], and your family, except those of them against whom the decree has gone beforehand, and do not plead with Me for those who are wrongdoers: they shall indeed be drowned.’
‘When you, and those who are with you, are settled in the ark, say, ‘‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has delivered us from the wrongdoing lot.’’
And say, ‘‘My Lord! Land me with a blessed landing, for You are the best of those who bring ashore.’’ ’
There are indeed signs in this; and indeed, We have been testing.
Then after them We brought forth another generation,
and We sent them an apostle from among themselves, saying, ‘Worship Allah! You have no other god besides Him. Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’
Said the elite of his people, who were faithless and who denied the encounter of the Hereafter and whom We had given affluence in the life of the world: ‘This is just a human being like yourselves: he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink.
If you obey a human being like yourselves, you will indeed be losers.
Does he promise you that when you have died and become bones and dust you will indeed be raised [from the dead]?
Far-fetched, far-fetched is what you are promised!
There is nothing but the life of this world: we live and die, and we will not be resurrected.
He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we will not believe in him.’
He said, ‘My Lord! Help me, for they impugn me.’
Said He, ‘In a little while they will become regretful.’
So the Cry seized them justly and We turned them into a scum. So away with the wrongdoing lot!
Then after them We brought forth other generations.
No nation can advance its time nor can it defer it.
Then We sent Our apostles successively. Whenever there came to a nation its apostle, they impugned him, so We made them follow one another [to extinction] and We turned them into folktales. So away with the faithless lot!
Then We sent Moses and Aaron, his brother, with Our signs and a manifest authority
to Pharaoh and his elites; but they acted arrogantly and they were a tyrannical lot.
They said, ‘Shall we believe two humans like ourselves, while their people are our slaves?’
So they impugned the two of them, whereat they were among those who were destroyed.
Certainly We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided,
and We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and sheltered them in a level highland with flowing water.

Triangulating Ṭabarsī (Majmaʿ al-Bayān) [tabarsi_majma_al_bayan], al-Qummī [qummi], al-Ṭūsī (al-Tibyān) [tusi_al_tibyan], al-Baḥrānī (al-Burhān) [bahrani_al_burhan], al-Ṭabāṭabāʾī (al-Mīzān) [tabatabai_al_mizan], and the Enlightening Commentary [enlightening_commentary].
Human-review flags: al-Baḥrānī and al-Mīzān are condensed; both anchor-units overrun into vv.51–52/54 (kept with disclosure to avoid dropping fetched text). al-Mīzān is rendered from the fetched Arabic, not the published Tawus Raja English.
What the passage says. A gallery of the messengers' call and its rejection: Noah, belied and delivered in the Ark while his people drown (23–30); a second generation (unnamed) destroyed by the Cry for denying the resurrection and affluently clinging to this world (31–41); then other generations, the succession of messengers, and their reduction to 'tales' (42–44); and finally Moses and Aaron before an arrogant Pharaoh, the giving of the Torah, and the sign of Jesus and his mother sheltered on a well-watered highland (45–50).
How the present sources read it. On Noah's ark ‹before Our eyes› (27), Ṭabarsī [tabarsi_majma_al_bayan], al-Ṭūsī [tusi_al_tibyan] and al-Mīzān [tabatabai_al_mizan] agree on the twin readings ('where We see it' / 'under the eyes of Our angels and believers who guard you'); al-Ṭūsī and al-Mīzān note the gushing oven as a miraculous token, al-Ṭūsī preserving al-Ḥasan's report of the Ark's dimensions and the count of believers (seven, Noah eighth). al-Mīzān alone dwells on the silence over the drowning as rhetorically more crushing than an explicit report.
On the arguments of the deniers, all sources give the same fabrications — 'only a human like you,' the demand for angels, the appeal to the forefathers, the charge of madness — but al-Mīzān systematizes them into four or five dialectical ploys and diagnoses their root in itrāf and a purely animal conception of man (Q 7:170; 47:12). On ‹hayhāt hayhāt› (36), Ṭabarsī and al-Ṭūsī supply the fullest lexical treatment (a noun-sound of remoteness, like ṣah/mah and shattān), while al-Mīzān reads the repetition as intensified improbability and floats — then sets aside — a metempsychosis reading of ‹we die and we live.› On ‹tatrā› (44), Ṭabarsī, al-Ṭūsī, al-Qummī and al-Baḥrānī converge on 'one after another,' al-Ṭūsī deriving it from al-watr (connection/severance).
On the second generation's identity, Ṭabarsī reports ʿĀd (people of Hūd) or Thamūd, and al-Mīzān judges Thamūd likely (destroyed by the Cry after Noah) — a point where al-Baḥrānī simply refers Noah's fuller story back to Sūrat Hūd. On the Cry and ‹ghuthāʾ› (41), al-Qummī and al-Baḥrānī share the Abū al-Jārūd ← al-Bāqir gloss ('the dried, withered remains of plants'), matched by Ṭabarsī, al-Ṭūsī and al-Mīzān. On Pharaoh's ‹their people are our slaves (ʿābidūn)› (47), Ṭabarsī and al-Ṭūsī transmit al-Ḥasan's striking inversion — the Israelites 'worshipped' Pharaoh while Pharaoh worshipped idols — al-Ṭūsī adding Abū ʿUbayda's philology (submission to a king is 'worship,' whence al-ʿIbād of al-Ḥīra).
The passage's sharpest divergence is over the rabwa of 23:50. The Sunnī-transmitted identifications range across al-Ramla, Damascus, Egypt and Bayt al-Maqdis (reported by Ṭabarsī and al-Ṭūsī). Against these, a distinctively Imāmī identification unites al-Qummī, al-Baḥrānī, Ṭabarsī and al-Mīzān: the rabwa is al-Ḥīra / Najaf of Kūfa, the qarār the mosque of Kūfa, and the maʿīn the Euphrates, on the authority of al-Bāqir and al-Ṣādiq (al-Baḥrānī citing Kāmil al-Ziyārāt); al-Mīzān adds that the Damascus and Ramla reports 'are none of them free of weakness.' al-Baḥrānī's anchor-block also carries the adjacent reports that the messengers' ‹good things› are 'the sustenance of the prophets' and that ‹this your community is one community› denotes 'the House of Muḥammad' — Imāmī taʾwīl reported here, not endorsed.
