Certainly We created the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, in six days, and any fatigue did not touch Us.
So be patient at what they say, and celebrate the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the sunset,
and glorify Him through part of the night and after the prostrations.
And be on the alert for the day when the caller calls from a close quarter,
the day when they hear the Cry in all truth. That is the day of rising [from the dead].
Indeed it is We who give life and bring death, and toward Us is the [final] destination.
The day the earth is split open for [disentombing] them, [they will come out] hastening. That mustering is easy for Us [to carry out].
We know well what they say, and you are not there to compel them. So admonish by the Quran those who fear My threat.
English translation: Ali Quli Qarai
The close answers the deniers with the ease of God's power — 'We created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, and no fatigue touched Us' — then turns to the Prophet: 'be patient at what they say,' glorify before sunrise and sunset and in the night 'and after the prostrations,' and 'listen for the Day the caller calls from a near place... that is the Day of Coming-forth.' It seals the sura: 'It is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the destination... you are not over them a compeller, so remind by the Qurʾan whoever fears My threat.'
al-Mizan reads the ending as a single pastoral arc: patience, worship, expectation, and reminder, with 'We know best what they say... you are not a compeller' as the express ground of 'be patient.' Tabatabaʾi maps the glorification onto the five prayers and takes 'listen' as 'await,' the caller's 'near place' signifying a call that reaches every ear equally. Tusi and Tabarsi agree the caller announces the second blast — some naming Israfil or a crier upon the Rock of Jerusalem summoning the decayed bones — and gloss 'the Day of Coming-forth,' 'give life and cause death,' the earth 'cleft' as the dead hasten forth, and the 'easy mustering,' with 'you are not a compeller (jabbar)' from al-Hasan.
On the ritual verses the sources are unanimous in substance: al-Bahrani and al-Qummi both transmit the Imams' rulings that 'after the prostrations' denotes the rakʿas after maghrib (two per al-Baqir, four per al-Rida), and al-Bahrani preserves al-Sadiq's ten-fold formula of tahlil for the dawn/dusk glorification and the Prophet's exposition of the six days of creation and the Sabbath — traditions that al-Mizan independently cites. The distinctively Imami note falls on vv.41-42: al-Qummi and al-Bahrani read the caller as proclaiming 'the name of al-Qaʾim and his father,' the Cry as 'the Cry of al-Qaʾim from the sky,' and 'the Day of Coming-forth' as the Return (al-rajʿa) — al-Bahrani binding it to 40:51, that God's promised help to slain prophets and Imams is fulfilled in the Return. These eschatological readings are rendered strictly as-attributed. The Enlightening Commentary supplies the published English. No source was silent for this passage.
